The Safe Interaction Program (SIP) is an advocacy program implemented by the Elizabeth Police Department to build on our existing relationship alongside people with special needs and their loved ones. The purpose of the program is to help caregivers and individuals whom are adversely affected by a disability to enhance the quality of search-and-rescue response and interactions with members of law enforcement. The program provides educational resources and training that helps us create a trusting and safe relationship with our special needs community.
Becoming a participant of the program includes:
SIP personalized identification card
Personal interaction with police officers
Virtual Reality training experience
Hands-on practice for police/emergency responder interaction
SIP lanyard
SIP silicon bracelet
Educational resources for caregivers
Building tour of the Elizabeth Police Department
