Project Medicine Drop provides the opportunity to safely discard unused prescription medications. The Elizabeth Police Department maintains custody of the deposited drugs, and disposes of them in accordance with the procedures for the custody and destruction of controlled dangerous substances.
Unused medications that remain in your medicine cabinet are susceptible to theft and misuse. To prevent medications from getting into the wrong hands, New Jersey’s Office of the Attorney General and Division of Consumer Affairs urge you to properly dispose of your expired and unwanted prescription medicine at police headquarters located at 1 Police Plaza.
Drop off is simple, anonymous and available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, no questions asked. Simply bring in your prescription and over-the-counter medications and discard them in an environmentally safe manner. Always scratch out the identifying information on any medicine container you are discarding. The Elizabeth Police Department cannot accept any liquid medication, syringes, or pet medications.
Portable Drop Box is available for community meetings or events, please contact Detective Laura Frammigen at (908)527-6549 or email LFrammigen@ElizabethNJ.org
