MAYOR BOLLWAGE SWEARS IN 10 NEW FIREFIGHTERS
 
ELIZABETH, NJ— June 3, 2016 — Mayor J. Christian Bollwage, Councilwoman-At-Large Patricia PerkinsAuguste,
Councilman-At-Large Manny Grova, Jr., Councilman Kevin Kiniery, Councilman William Gallman,
Jr. and Councilman Carlos Torres, along with City and Fire Officials, welcomed 10 new firefighters at a
ceremony in City Hall Council Chambers this morning.
 
“There is nothing more important than the safety of our residents,” said Mayor J. Christian Bollwage. “On
behalf of the City of Elizabeth, I would like to welcome the new graduates and wish them luck in their new
positions, as we continue to work together providing the high level of fire response that our community expects
and deserves.”
 
Several new recruits are also bilingual, increasing the ability to interact and communicate with the diverse
communities located throughout the municipality. New recruits include: Gregory Borys, Vincenzo Soldano,
David Fiorillo, Cesario Rebelo, Rafael Alvarez, Darnell, Woodarad, John Sacco, Miguel Sousa, Joseph
Marranca and Peterson Paquiot.
 
“The individuals selected for this class have demonstrated professionalism and a strong desire to give back to
our community,” said Councilwoman-At-Large Patricia Perkins-Auguste. “We are looking forward to great
results from this class. I would like to welcome them to our team and wish them a safe career.”
 
The City of Elizabeth is the fourth largest municipality in the State of New Jersey with a population of
approximately 125,000 residents. With its close proximity to the entire tri-state area, the Elizabeth Fire
Department responds to an array of calls, incidents and emergency issues. Additional recruits will strengthen
and increase overall assistance to residents.
