MAYOR BOLLWAGE TO HOST 23rd ANNUAL JULYFEST
 
ELIZABETH, NJ JULY 14, 2014- Mayor J. Christian Bollwage will join First Ward Councilman Carlos Torres, Councilwoman-at-Large Patricia Perkins-Auguste, Councilman-at-Large Manny Grova Jr., and Union County Freeholder Sergio Granados at the annual JulyFest celebration, scheduled to take place on Wednesday, July 16, 2014.
 
“JulyFest provides an opportunity for residents to speak directly with city representatives, ask questions and receive important information about the availability of services,” said Mayor J. Christian Bollwage. “In addition to raising public awareness, this year's event will feature free music, food and entertainment for all to enjoy.”
 
The Miller Evans Logan Recreation Center, which is located at 161-163 First Street, will be the site of the 2014 JulyFest. Featuring trained professionals, this event will focus on staying healthy and effectively managing households. Informative pamphlets and resources, which detail programs and initiatives, will also be available to attendees.
 
“From health and home improvement to improving the overall quality of life, local organizations are working closely with the City of Elizabeth to deliver the assistance residents need,” said First Ward Councilman Carlos Torres. “Our partners are dedicated to making a difference in the lives of others and JulyFest is one more example of this impressive commitment.”
 
Vendors participating at JulyFest include: Trinitas Regional Medical Center (Health Screenings), Elizabeth Public Library, Elizabeth Fire Department, Elizabeth Police Department, Elizabeth Home Improvement Program, Brand New Day, Prevention Links, Planned Parenthood and PROCEED. 
 
Sponsors include the City of Elizabeth, Housing Authority, Elizabeth Police Department, Wakefern, Councilman Carlos Torres, Councilman-at-Large Manny Grova, Jr., and Union County Freeholder Sergio Granados.    
 
In addition to Miller Evans Logan, the City of Elizabeth operates three recreation centers as well as nineteen parks and playgrounds throughout the municipality. Green Space and activity sites within the community provide valuable locations, where skills can be honed, teamwork encouraged and healthy living to be practiced though exercise and sports.
