“Firefighting is one of the most noble professions a person can undertake. It has meaningful rewards and considerable responsibilities,” said Mayor J. Christian Bollwage. “Our Fire Department is one of the best in New Jersey because of all of you who serve today and continue to set a high standard for fellow officers to follow. I would like to congratulate each of you and wish you the best of luck in your new positions.”

The new promotions include: Captains: Timothy Mulroy, John Zapata, Kenneth Nocera and Luis Atienza; Fire Official: Omar Munoz and EMT Supervisor, James Rogers.

“These men are highly experienced leaders in the fire service, and have earned the trust and respect of the Elizabeth Fire Department as well as our community,” said Second Ward Councilman Nelson Gonzalez. “You all learned from great leaders, who came before you and now it is your turn to lead and pay it forward.”
