MAYOR BOLLWAGE TO CUT RIBBON ON CONGRESSMAN SIRES’ NEW OFFICE IN ELIZABETH

ELIZABETH, NJ—January 22, 2013 — On Thursday, January 24th at 11:00 a.m., Mayor J. Christian Bollwage will host a Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting for the new offices of Congressman Albio Sires of the 8th Congressional District.

“I would like to welcome Congressman Sires and his staff to Elizabeth. We have worked together as elected officials in the past and will continue to place our community first in the future.” said Mayor Bollwage. “I know Congressman Sires will remain committed to being accessible to all of our constituents and providing high quality services.”

The ceremony, which will be held alongside other local politicians and dignitaries, will kick off operations for the new service hub, which will provide assistance and information to the community.

From November 2006 to January 2013, Congressman Sires represented the 13th Congressional District; however due to redistricting that District was eliminated. The City of Elizabeth was partially included in the 13th District and is now represented entirely within the 8th District. This term, Congressman Sires will focus his efforts on jobs, the economy and transportation/infrastructure.

“Constituent service is one of my top priorities and we are going to have a very active staff, one that will reach out and try to connect with people around Elizabeth and the region,” said Congressman Sires. “We want to have an open door policy, where anyone can come to have a conversation, find out what is happening in Washington, or be helped through our many services. I am confident that our new location will provide the exceptional assistance that residents in the 8th District expect and deserve.”

The new office will feature services including: residential help with a federal agency, homeowner resources, grants, internships, tours and tickets to Washington, D.C.

The 8th Congressional District of New Jersey consists of: four counties and fifteen municipalities, including most of Hudson County, a part of Newark to the west in Essex County, down south to Union and north to Bergen County.

The new office will be located within the Stephen Sampson Senior Center, at 800 Anna Street in Elizabeth and will be staffed Monday-Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
