THE CITY OF ELIZABETH HOSTS PUBLIC WORKSHOP ON FUTURE OF NEW JERSEY

ELIZABETH, NJ—February 21, 2013 — On Monday, March 4, 2013, Mayor J. Christian Bollwage will join representatives from Together North Jersey and the North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority (NJTPA) to discuss the future of Northern and Central New Jersey.  The public is also invited to attend and participate in this workshop, where thoughts and ideas about how to improve the State will be explored.

“This free workshop is a great way to increase awareness and involve residents on important matters that will impact them in the future,” said Mayor J. Christian Bollwage. “It has been a pleasure to work with such dedicated professionals in getting this wonderful program up and running. I look forward to hearing all of the feedback received at the event.”

The seminar is part of a series being held throughout the region by Together North Jersey, who is a group of local, state and regional partners, working together on a Regional Plan for Sustainable Development.  These events create the perfect opportunity for the public to share ideas about planning for the future and building stronger communities.

Providing local and regional economies with better access to transportation, housing, jobs as well as educational, cultural and recreational opportunities, is imperative to developing and maintaining thriving municipalities.

Members of the community, governmental agencies, private industry, business representatives and other interested parties are all invited to attend.  Each session will begin with an open house and presentations on the planning process, followed by breakout sessions on regional goals and priorities. The NJTPA will also be on hand to discuss Plan 2040, which is the organization’s update to the long-range transportation plan for the region.

The event will be held in the Thomas H. Brown Conference Center of Union County College’s Kellogg Building, on the fifth floor, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
